Jesse Schartz is a bassoonist with the USAF Heritage of America Band at Langley AFB, VA and performs primarily with the concert band and woodwind quintet. Outside of the Air Force, Jesse also performs frequently with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra as a substitute musician, and maintains a private studio teaching middle and high school students in Hampton Roads.
Jesse joined the USAF Bands in 2000, and has also been assigned to the Band of Mid-America at Scott AFB, IL; the USAFE Band at Sembach AB, Germany; the Band of the Reserve at Robins AFB, GA; and the Band of Flight at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. He has toured extensively in the United States, and has also performed in over 20 countries throughout Europe and the Middle East. Other professional appearances include the North Arkansas Symphony, the Fort Smith (AR) Symphony, the Springfield (MO) Symphony, the Saint Louis Philharmonic, and the Columbus (OH) Symphony.
Jesse received a Bachelor of Music degree in Bassoon Performance from the University of Arkansas, a Master of Arts in Education degree from the University of Phoenix, and a Master of Music degree in Bassoon Performance from the Ohio State University. He has studied with Richard Ramey, Robert Mottl, and Karen Pierson.
